About the Systems Transformation Hub (STH)

The Systems Transformation Hub (STH) is a pioneering partnership of organisations dedicated to bringing systems thinking and action into European policymaking. It brings together the expertise of the Club of Rome, Climate KIC, Metabolic, Systemiq Ltd., and the World Resources Institute, combining complementary strengths to help Europe address today’s most pressing and interconnected challenges.

STH supports more coherent, systemic policymaking in Europe by helping policymakers and their partners work across silos and navigate complex, cross-cutting issues. The Hub integrates systems thinking, policy insight, and practitioner experience to inform decision-making on topics such as climate, land use, innovation, governance, finance, and Europe’s role in the world. In practice, STH combines analysis, coordination, and convening to align short-term policy choices with longer-term transformation goals.

Our mission

We initiate, support, and organise processes that enable coherent and systemic policymaking in Europe. By bringing together relevant actors, addressing critical gaps, offering strategic problem-solving, and building system-change capacity with EU policymakers, we help accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable Europe.

Your Role

We are looking for 2 interns to join us for a 6 month period. During this internship you will contribute to one or multiple Systems Transformation Hub programmes, supporting the team with clearly scoped tasks under close supervision.

Typical activities may include:

  • Supporting research and desk analysis on policy-relevant topics
  • Drafting and revising short analytical or briefing notes, with references where relevant
  • Helping prepare summaries, background notes, and internal documents
  • Assisting with coordination and follow-up across projects and partners
  • Supporting the preparation of workshops, meetings, and events
  • Helping organise trackers, shared materials, and documentation

This is a learning-focused internship. You will not be expected to lead projects, manage budgets, or represent STH independently. Tasks will be adapted to your skills and learning objectives.

  • How systems thinking is applied to real-world policy challenges
  • Research, synthesis, and analytical writing skills
  • Coordination and collaboration in a small, partnership-based team

Who We Are Looking For

Essential requirements

  • Strong alignment with STH’s mission and values
  • Excellent written communication skills in English
  • Ability to understand and structure complex topics
  • Curiosity, proactivity, and a strong learning mindset
  • Based in Brussels or willing to relocate
  • Availability for a minimum of 4 days per week in-office

Desirable qualifications

  • Master’s degree or up to 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Background in research, analysis, policy, or communications
  • Experience with organisational or policy-related work
  • Additional European languages are a plus

Practical Information

  • Remuneration: €1,250 gross per month
  • Benefits: Transport expenses (STIB card), sick leave, and pro-rated holidays
  • Contract: Fixed-term internship contract
  • Note: This internship does not guarantee subsequent employment
